THE MISFIT IS BACK!
It was one of the old graybeards seated there who made the surprised observation that Cole Stedman wasn’t wearing a lead-pusher.
“’Course he is,” argued a crony. “That feller has been totin’ iron since the day he turned fifteen.”
“And knew how to use it, too,” affirmed another. “Seems to me you oughtta be wearin’ your spectacles, Herb. That man was armed right enough.”
But when Cole Stedman rode by a short time later, heading for the hills, they realized that Herb was right. There was no .45 riding Cole’s hip, and that was a mighty big shock. In Saddletown, walking around unarmed was about as common as going about bird-naked!
