The man with the barbed-wire soul!
He was dressed in a dust-smeared black suit and an equally dusty black hat. A silver brocade vest covered a white shirt and he sported a black string tie. He stood and stretched before climbing down from the wagon, and I could see that he was unarmed. That in itself was out of the ordinary. Just about every man in the State carried some sort of weapon, and he had the look of the professional about him.
